Karachi, Dawood College of Engineering and Technology (DCET), Karachi will have university status soon and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has accepted the summary in this regard.
According to the DCET statement, summary was forwarded to the CM Sindh for approval on Nov 1, 2011, and chief executive of Sindh has granted an approval.
However, the bill would be presented in the coming session of the Sindh Assembly.
The Dawood College was transferred to the Sindh government after the 18th Amendment.
The summary was sent to get university status and degree awarding institute for the Dawood College of Engineering and Technology on Dec 11, 2010 it got the status of degree awarding institute. Therefore, the Sindh chief minister was requested to give it a university status.
The DCET would be second public sector engineering university in the city after the NED.
According to the report, the vice chancellor of the Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Dr Mohammed Ali Sheikh worked and made efforts in this regard. He is also incharge principal of the DCET. Dr Sheikh had also succeeded in getting the university status for the Sindh Madressatul Islam on 16 Feb, 2012.
University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK has announced scholarships for foreign postgraduate students.
Candidates desiring to get admission in the university must have first class Honours degree from a recognized Pakistan University. Since this scholarship is offered on the basis of financial need, candidates with multiple degrees will not be considered.
The University of Strathclyde is awarding scholarships to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Foundation of the State of from funds donated by the late Mr Yaqub Ali through the Scottish Pakistani Association to the University of Strathclyde Foundation. The main purpose of the Fund is to provide an opportunity for well qualified but needy Pakistan nationals to get a one-year degree in MSc in the UK.
