Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will open its Secondary School Certificate (SSC) to PhD-level admissions for spring semester 2017 in different disciplines from February 1st, 2017.
Overall, almost seventy programs will be offered.

The vice chancellor of AIOU Prof. Dr Shahid Siddiqui has approved the admission strategy that involves 9 new degree-level programs from B.Ed to PhD, in order to enlarge the scope of studies keeping in view the latest educational trends as well as market requirements.
The fresh PhD program is being offered in Management Sciences, along with the one year post-graduate diploma in criminology and Population and Development.

2 Master-level programs in Environment Science and Botany are also being introduced.
Furthermore there would be BS-level programs in Statistics, Mathematics and Physics.
Almost 5 professional and functional certificate courses would also be offered for the coming semester in different disciplines including Librarianship, Agriculture, French Online and short-term educational programs.
Master-level courses are being offered in 19 disciplines that involves Communication, MA TV production, MEd (one year), Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, History and Sociology.

Moreover, the university will introduce a fresh B.Ed program from the coming semester, in accordance along with the roadmap provided by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The time period for the B.Ed program is now one and a half year, and seeking students will need to have at least 16 years of education to be eligible for admission.

Dr Shahid Siddiqui has instructed the Admission Department to provide maximum facilities to the candidates taking admission in their desired discipline as well as certifying availability of admission forms at near locations.
He furthermore advised all the regional directors to put up a special desk at their offices for the guidance of the aspirants.
