Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will introduce special M Phil (Professional track) degree programme for the young working journalists from next semester.
The senior media experts would be invited to share their knowledge as well as their skills along with their fellow colleagues.

This will permit the on job professionals to improve their working capability.
Away from this, the Mass Communication department of the university has developed short-term courses in different media disciplines that will also be introduced from next year, this statement was given by the Vice Chancellor of university Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while briefing a group of columnists as well as writers who visited the university to get firsthand knowledge of its educational triggers.

Dr. Siddiqui said that the varsity being media based institution is offering education to the people through distance learning is trying to serve the journalist community by fulfilling their professional requirements.
While acknowledging the media support for the University, he said he believes that the media has now appeared as most strong social institution and there is need both media and academia work together for the sake of education.
Furthermore, the VC gave them a comprehensive briefing on the steps being taken for the development of the university.

The university is also being developed as a core of social and literary activities providing opportunity to journalists, writers as well as columnists to share their professional excellence and experience along with the faculty as well as the aspirants, he added.
He invited them to help the university in accomplishing its future goals specially promoting media related activities like launching of an educational television channel and also expanding FMs radio network.
