Omer Ahmed Khan, a Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, has been nominated for a summer internship program at Microsoft Research Center, Cairo. Omer Ahmed Khan is the only Pakistani student between the 24 nominated applicants from approximately 520 candidates.
The nominated applicants for this internship program would work at the Advanced Technology Lab (ATL), Cairo which is mainly a part of the Microsoft’s Technology & Research (T&R) organization. They emphasis on surveys and developments in the regions of Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Mining, Speech Processing, and also in the field of Image Understanding, whereas depending upon the foundations of Machine Learning and on Software Development.
The main objective of internship program at ATL Cairo is to encourage the new generation of highly qualified people to chase a career in research and in development. Basically, this internship program is designed to give the undergraduate students experience working on the real projects together with full-time employees. The type of internship is different for each student according to their interests and qualification. Internees can select to work in research, development or in testing.
To apply for this internship, the candidates must meet the following requirements:
o Be a third-year student in engineering, computer science, or in a relevant field.
o Must have strong analytical skills and interest in research
o Must have advanced programming abilities
o Must have knowledge about Microsoft technologies
