Karachi, The University of Karachi (KU) has given aptitude tests to 20,000 candidates intending to get admission in various departments of the varsity in the session starting next year.
Admissions Director Prof Dr Khalid Iraqi said that admissions on reserved and donor seats (self-finance basis) would start from Monday, December 10.
In a meeting of KU’s Admission Committee, Iraqi said all aptitude tests for admissions in Bachelors (Honours) and Masters Programs were conducted in a peaceful manner without any external interference.
For the first time ever, the KU administration had provided the facility of transport to the candidates to help them avoid arriving late for their tests.
The participants of the meeting decided that forms for reserved seats (Sports, KU Employees, Disabled Persons, Armed Forces, FATA/Northern Areas and AJK, Balochistan, and Interior Sindh quotas) and donor seats could be obtained and submitted between December 10 and 26 from the UBL Silver Jubilee Gate of the varsity.
The final merit list for aptitude tests-based departments and the PharmD program would be displayed at 2pm on Sunday, December 9 and the list for Bachelors (Honours) would be displayed at 2pm on Saturday, December 15 at the Silver Jubilee Gate. The lists could also be downloaded from the varsity’s website (www.uok.edu.pk).
The University of Karachi has announced that applications for need based scholarships under a Higher Education Commission program can be submitted till Dec 15.
Students of Masters, Hons and Pharm D as well as those who have recently secured admissions are eligible to apply for the scholarship which would be delivered with USAID financial assistance.
A university statement said that these scholarships are with the financial assistance of the USAID. Those students who are financially weak can fully benefit from these scholarships, the statement added. The forms can be downloaded from the website of the University of Karachi. Forms are also available at the Students Financial Aid Office, Administration Block of the university till December 15.
