2 lakh poor children to get free education under PEF

Lahore, The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) is going to deliver free educational services to two lakh poor children in the next five years under its public private partnership program.

The program aims to provide quality education to the economically underprivileged children, particularly the females, who could not continue their studies due to lack of resources and access.

Chairman, Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Anwar expressed this while chairing the district coordination meeting of several schools of northern region which are linked with the PEF under its foundation assisted schools (FAS) program. PEF-DMDs, Director (FAS) Nadeem Masood and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion.

PEF Chairman further said that public private partnership in the field of education was a great support for the poor societies in Punjab and it was proven to breakdown the chains of poverty through quality education.

The foundation is already providing education facility to 13 lakh deserving students in Punjab and 52 percent of them are females.

While highlighting the reputation of sponsoring knowledge-based community for national development, he said that accepting the educational expenses of about 11 lakh deserving students in Punjab indicates its massive achievement and service to the poor. He further revealed that Department for International Development of the United Kingdom will give financial assistance of 70 million pounds for a period of five years to the PEF for advance spreading free educational programs.

The Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) has got first position in All Pakistan University Radio Production Awards entitled ‘Gender-Based Violence News Report".

Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Lahore conducted the event in cooperation with the USAID and Aurat Foundation. The news report focused the issue of ‘Domestic Violence’ and was broadcasted by the team of Campus Radio Station, Voice of Women (VoW) at the Department of Communication and Media Studies.

Special shield, certificates and cash prize were distributed among senior students along with their supervisor Miss Rouqia Khursheed (Assistance Producer). Munno Bhai was the chief guest on this occasion.
