Lahore: A 13-year-old maid on Tuesday committed 'suicide' in Chung police area.
The deceased girl was a resident of Okara. According to the police officials, the victim was serving as a maid at a house in EME Society Multan Road for the last few months.

On the day of incident, the girl was found hanging along with the ceiling fan in the servant quarter. Upon being informed, police reached the location and found the dead body of the girl was hanging along with the ceiling fan.
Police said that initially the incident looked like a suicide case; but, the actual cause could be ascertained after a post-mortem.

Police removed the dead body to city morgue for postmortem and informed her parents. It might be mentioned that the Punjab government has banned child labour and has restricted working of youth aged between 15 years to 18 years.
The ban was imposed under the "Punjab Restriction on Employment of Children Ordinance, 2016". Though, the Chung police did not take any action against the house owner and the parents of the deceased girl in this regard, whereas the duty officer said that if the parents of the deceased girl will submit an application then further action can be taken.
